My journey
in photography started when I was 13; while traveling around Europe in
summer for my studies, I began taking color pictures with an old Nikon.
Over the years -- as a student, travel professional, and now mother --
I've lived in Europe, the U.S. and Asia, and through it all photography
is still with me.
The images I take now are strictly black and white; Nikon is still my
favorite camera, although I am increasingly fascinated by medium format.
People often tell me I should focus on digital, but I love the craft of
developing and printing my own pictures, frustrating as it might be at
times!!...
My subjects have also changed over the years. I still enjoy travel photography
and its ability to help me discover new places, but I am now very compelled
by documentary photography as a tool to 'explain' and understand different
realities.
Ultimately though, every picture I take is about light in its simplest
form, in its most intimate detail.
I am still far from achieving the pictures I really love, which is why
this is truly a journey, a journey in Black and White.
